We are destroying the misconceptions that surround the LGBTQ community.

We have a duty to amplify the authentic experiences of those most at risk. Important stories aren’t being heard and, as a result, true equality is at stake. Voices of the vulnerable are being undercut by denial and underrepresentation. By cataloguing personal narratives, we strengthen the bridge of storytelling, the binding language of our existence, that brings people together. Together, we are stronger!

Our inspiration comes from the countless lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people throughout history who have courageously lived their lives. Harvey Milk implored us all to come out, saying that it will "break down the myths, [and] destroy the lies and distortions" that surround our community.

"Every gay person must come out...  Once you do, you will feel so much better!"

VideoOut believes that coming allows you to live as the most authentic version of yourself. But, it's not only about the individual. Coming out is the greatest act any of us can take in providing hope.

"There's hope for a better world. There's hope for a better tomorrow... I know that you cannot live on hope alone, but without it, life is not worth living... And you, and you, and you gotta give 'em hope."

I grew up in Hueytown, Alabama where I was intimately aware of the world’s feelings towards people like me. Every single day, countless people question their existence because they don’t see stories that align with own identity. VideoOut is creating the world’s largest library of coming-out stories that empowers LGBTQ people to live proudly as their truest selves. In addition to encouraging people to come out, VideoOut ignites the empathy inherent in the stories we capture, and we wield that empathy as a tool for advocacy. We believe that one story is important, several stories are powerful, and all of our stories together are an unstoppable force that demands LGBTQ equality.
