VideoOut is a founding partner of a new initiative, American Media Fellowship, that leverages storytelling and media to foster connection across lines of difference. Intimate contact is a proven way to erode hatred, dismantle fear, and combat prejudice.
Visit the American Media Fellowship website to learn more about how you can be involved.
American Media Fellowship received funding from NBCUniversal to buy and retrofit a 72 passenger bus into a state of the art mobile studio. In the fall of 2018, the team will embark on a 40,000 mile journey across the country. We will record 2,000 interviews that highlight the perspectives of real people in America. Those interviews will be shared to help Americans see past their differences to the things that unite us all.
In addition to telling the story about the modern mosaic of American identity, we feel like part of the impact equation entails bringing together talented fellows across lines of difference. We're interested in working with people who are themselves from marginalized communities. If this is you, please apply.
Here are a few quick facts about the fellowship:
- 6 months, 40k miles, 2000 interviews starting in September
- All expenses paid
- $20,000 stipend
- Project support and mentorship
